Supporting Puerto Princesa Underground River!!

One of the many places that I have dreamt of visiting is the Puerto Princesa Underground River in Palawan here in my beautiful country the Philippines. As a nature lover and green advocate, I would love to see the beauty of this wonderful gift from God to mankind. As a postcard collector and proud Filipino, Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (Puerto Princesa Underground River) is one of the Philippines’ beautiful places that have been inducted to be one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites last December 4, 1999. And aside from that, I wanted to experience the efforts made by the Palawan Local Government Units in making their place pollution free!
Then my dad said that the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park has been nominated as one of the beautiful places in the world and the problem was, he could not remember which award giving body since he is a bit newbie with Facebook. So, I searched online and discovered that indeed Puerto Princesa Underground River has been nominated and currently one of the 28 finalists of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. Isn’t that bliss!!
Anyway, since I love this place, I decided to make my own little way of promoting Puerto Princesa Underground River and help it to land as one the New 7 Wonders of Nature by having a postcard giveaway!

I was fortunate enough to be able to explore Puerto Princesa Underground River. It happened las 2008. It was a very exciting and thrilling experience for me. I was overly fascinated and surprised with all the works of nature I saw inside like the giant mushroom. I would love to visit the place again if given the chance.

Great way to help in the PP advocacy, Sis Rubz! I already voted through the site and texted.
I was able to go to the Underground River twice and would not hesitate going back for a third time. The place is truly amazing! The boatmen also never fail to make me laugh, even if I’ve heard their jokes already.
My favorite rock formation is the Holy Family. The face of Jesus on the wall is definitely hair-raising.
Hi Mommy Ruby!
You should really go there! The place is so pristine! Imagine: you have to travel 3-4 hours from the city proper to get to the port where you get to ride a boat to the trail that leads to the river entrance (City proper–Port–Trail–Underground River). And the view on the way there is in itself captivating. I never see the sky that blue back in Manila.

Last February 27 of this year, I was very lucky enough that my sister let me join with them in their vacation at Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. I was so excited to see the place and of course, the famous and the only entry of the Philippines to the 7 Wonders of the World, the Underground River. Too bad that our digital cameras are all low in batteries, I wasn’t able to capture it on cam but definitely captured it in my memory forever. The place was so serene, every creature who lives inside the cave was in harmony with each other. The limestones formation was amazing, I could remember the guide telling us some formation looked like corn and other vegetables. But one significant place inside it was the Cathedral. In the Cathedral are the candle, Holy Family and other formations. It was really exceptionally beautiful. I would love to go back there and bring my daughters with me in due time.
o Done with voting the PPUR on new7wonders.com, liked your Fb page Postcard Enthusiast and here is my Fb profile page, http://www.facebook.com/jenjacqs. I hope I will win!
I believe that Puerto Princesa Underground River would be an ideal addition to the new 7 wonders of nature not only for its environmental beautification but also for its history.
I have visited the place twice, most recently back in 2008. I’d love to go back again. I read recently that paleontologists unearthed fossils of a prehistoric marine mammal related to the present dugong within the cave….I’d love to see these if they are set up in a museum-style display nearby….
Already have the card, ma’am. Doing this because I really like your site….
Thank you for supporting the Puerto Princesa Underground River
pwede ba mag vote ulit? hehe. Truly a place of wonder. Good thing I was able to go there off season so my boatman (mag isa lang ako sa boat!) toured me longer, entertained me with interesting trivia about the river and the training they had to undergo to be able to secure tourists who visit. Didn’t have a digi cam back then to document its beauty but I love the place even the forest trail going to the cave. I have this long term goal to go back and see the smaller caves
if opportunity comes.
More power!
What a lovely treasure to have! Cave systems are always so interesting!
